There’s nothing like a bowl of fresh cherries when they’re in season. But that’s not the only way to embrace their nutritional perks.
Thanks to their high antioxidant levels, our fresh cherries are considered on the leading “Super-Fruits” buy researchers in Canada and U.S. who keep finding more and more health benefits from this delicious cherry.
Canadian Cherries contain high levels of melatonin and anthocyanins, powerful antioxidants with anti inflammatory properties. The melatonin works wonders for combating stress and jet lag. Besides, Canadian Cherries are a good source of vitamin C and fiber!
Whip our cherries into smoothies, or add it to overnight oats. Stir chopped dried cherries into nut butter or melted dark chocolate, or sprinkle onto salads and cooked veggies. Add tart cherry juice to sparkling water. Or drink it straight up if you’re struggling with sleep, or want exercise recovery benefits. Making cherries and cherry products a staple part of your diet is a small shift that may snowball into big-time health benefits.
Fresh Cherries are great on their own, mixed in a smoothie, baked into a cobbler recipe, and added into a salad. Just like with our blueberries, our cherries are great with all our cereals, and add just a zip to your day.

BLUEBERRY SMOOTHIE RECIPE
- I use a silver bullet for blending my smoothie, so you may need to adjust this recipe for whatever device you use.
- 1/3 of the silver bullet container frozen blueberries, or frozen cranberries, or any other combination of frozen fruit
- 2 heaping table spoons of plain unflavored yogurt (non sweetened) (optional)
- 3 heaping table spoons of hemp hearts (it’s a good source of protein) (optional)
Fill the rest of the container with orange juice and/ or cold water. If you wish, you can use another juice.
Put on the lid and blend for desired amount of time – usually 1 minute or less.

FRESH CHERRY COBBLER RECIPE
- 1/2 cup of butter
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1 cup of white sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking power
- 1 cup of milk
- 2 cups pitted sour cherries
- 3/4 cup of white sugar
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
-
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Place the butter in a 9×13 inch baking dish, and place in the oven to melt while the oven is preheating. Remove as soon as butter has melted, about 5 minutes.
-
In a medium bowl, stir together 1 cup of flour, 1 cup of sugar, and baking powder. Mix in the milk until well blended, then pour the batter into the pan over the butter. Do not stir.
-
Rinse out the bowl from the batter, and dry. Place cherries into the bowl, and toss with the remaining 3/4 cup of sugar and 1 tablespoon of flour. Distribute the cherry mixture evenly over the batter. Do not stir.
-
Bake for 50 to 60 minutes in the preheated oven, until golden brown. A toothpick inserted into the cobber should come out clean.
